Lovage is a 6'+ perennial herb. You use the leaves as a flavouring, so it's not entirely like celery where you get the crunch. But. The leaves taste like concentrated celery so you need a very small amount, and do very well in a "celery salt" or any soups/egg salads/etc where you want the flavour.

I love things that you plant once and then forget about (or irrigate, in your case, I suppose).

If it grows in your area (it needs winter dormancy but you get that) someone local will be able to hack you off a piece of root for a start.
