That's interesting. I think I use mother as the body-nurturing parent (so a seahorse male is a mother) and pollen parent is self-explanatory. So a tomato or an apple is either mother or pollen parent depending on its role in the process. So my frame of reference is ovum donor, pollen donor, mother-- but because I've never internalized any meaning to the role of father I don't have a carry-over for it. Like, I haven't experienced fathering in my life to have a more complex referent.

Do you associate anything in particular with mother vs father? (as opposed to egg and sperm provider)?
