Silent anaphylaxis is terrifying. I had that, also solved by immediate doses of benedryl, until I got through my five year series of allergy shots. Occasionally it would get better if I could make myself vomit and clear any allergens from my upper airway that found themselves there. The number of times that happened on the bus system before figuring this out was ...not small.
I really hope that you get an allergist appointment asap to figure out what is going on there, and that when you do, they take you seriously about how distressing this is and how unfortunate things could get with your location and independent way of moving through life. I know shots aren't an easy solution, unless you have a nurse to inject and supervise for adverse effects in community.
If it helps (not medical advice, but for comparison to when you do get medical advice), when we hit the ER for such, the recommendation was to take both the usual dose of benedryl AND 10mg loratadine (Claritin) 1x when it first happens. I carried around a dose like an oxygen mask with my water bottle.
If still not resolved, then the ER would give you 20mg loratadine twice a day (twice the usual dose on the bottle, twice a day) to bring things under control. Risks: your kidney and liver will be pushed harder to process this, so Do Not imbibe alcohol or things to additionally tax it during this time, and listen to your body if it starts to have cramps/pain that are unusual to you and stop to get things assessed by medical providers.
