Like every. Single. Thing. folks with a lot of resources for backup are good when things go wrong, and folks who are on the margins trying to convince themselves it's ok because other people are doing it fine and it will be fun are not good when things go wrong. There's just no silver bullet replacement for having a strong social safety net.
