Dirt and snow
Apr. 22nd, 2021 04:14 pmYesterday I put the first seeds outside. They went into pots on the deck that held tomatoes etc last year: piracicaba broccoli, sorrento raab, some of the bitter is better endive/chicory mix, green salad bowl lettuce, longstanding bloomsdale spinach, some of the gulag stars kale mix, longstanding cilantro, komo shungiku, and a couple easter egg radish seeds scattered in there.
Of course, out of a clear forecast of a week of sun, it snowed last night.
It sure won't hurt those particular seeds, but still.
Also, did I mention it was real windy at the beginning of this week and the ice came off the lake? Usually it's a big wind that breaks it up, and it marauds around from shore to shore, pushed by the wind, until it finally melts all the way. The wind coming off the lake is still super cold compared to my yard, though.
