I think the problem with anthropomorphism is that after a while, it gets silly.

Hey, if you want to stretch hairballs and door-demands into metaphor I could name a few of each.

And anthropomorphism does get silly, but you have to acknowledge we know a lot of women who purr and stretch when you skritch them in the right places.
