it makes me feel like a cranky old conservative poly person: BAH! cheating is breaking your relationship contract, and THAT'S IT.

That's especially amusing considering that most of my female friends who are poly are at least part cat anyway.

"Back in my day," said Tillie over a mug of tea in her rocking chair, "we didn't have none of this newfangled foofaraw about cats and emotions. You had your relationship, and you had your relationship contract, and if you wanted to keep the one, you stuck to the other. No metaphors, no nonsense. You kids today are just turnin' poly into the Devil's playground. What's this world coming to, anyway..."

so who's your poly female friend who hacks up over the rug? who's the one who insists you open to door, just demanding to be let in again?
who's fixed?

Hey, if you want to stretch hairballs and door-demands into metaphor I could name a few of each.

And anthropomorphism does get silly, but you have to acknowledge we know a lot of women who purr and stretch when you skritch them in the right places.

I also know a lot of women who bounce and demonstrate anti-gravitational properties. This does not make them Flubber!

are you sure about that?

(aside from the fact that if you call them Flubber they will cry.)
