Green!

Home early today. I went out to Langley, to see the garden of a pair of rhododendron enthusiasts I met at the VanDusen plant sale. Not just the garden, but the ride out there, was amazing. I'd forgotten how cramped the avenues of sight are in cities, how grey-and-white it is here, how there's nothing majestic and overwhelmingly alive. I'd like my garden to be that way, someday, but that scale just can't be matched. Imagine sitting in a bus and seeing green fields as far as the eye can see! I hadn't been out of the city for a long time.

It was a good trip, but lasted less time than I expected. I happened upon a nursery with a zillion japanese maples as well, while waiting for the bus. It was a good morning.

Today is rat-cage-change day. I'm worried about the ratties -- they're scratching, and Merlyn's scratching enough to be developing a bit of a bald spot by his tail. My internet info says it's likely to be mites, so I think I'l treat them for those before I go on to take them to the ($$$) vet.

We're looking at getting a load of compost delivered from the city. It's something like two hundred bucks, and eleven (?) cubic meters. I won't even get started on the potential there.

I read something today on the polyamory comunity that I agreed with. It was:

I've witnessed two general relationship approaches in polyamory: one in which personal growth is placed above relationship commitment, and one in which relationship commitment is placed above personal growth.

I think I am in transition right now, as I don't think there are any relationships I'm in right now where I can usefully/productively do the former, and it's what I did before. Interesting.
