Movie Plus
Dec. 22nd, 2004 07:01 pmMy early client cancelled today, so I got to go see House of Flying Daggers with Chris. It was an amazing movie. Not only was the cinematography/choreography stuff great, but it also had:
stunning casting
a bamboo (Moso?) grove scene
a story that turned on its heels a couple of times
an unbelievable sound, um... the music was good, but the sounds in the movie were even better
a brothel
cool action scenes that weren't all fight
...so yeah. It's definitely my favourite movie from China to date. And did I mention, both leads were good-looking? I have trouble finding Hollywood leads attractive quite often, so any movie where they're pretty is a plus.
Chris is pretty sick, as was my client yesterday, and potentially the clients that cancelled today. This icky throat thing really is decimating the ranks, and just in time for Christmas. :(
I'm feeling vaguely removed from reality, probably a combination of not being able to talk to people for a couple of days and a fair bit of isolation today. Tomorrow is my family Christmas celebration -- we're probably going to Storyeum and sort of hanging out a bunch, with VanD's Festival of Lights in the evening. Last year we went snowboarding. I love my family.
