It's apple season. Plenty of people in town have apple trees; there are also plenty of bears around. I've been raking up apples from folks' yards and bringing them home for the pigs/geese/ducks/chickens/muscovies. Everyone is pretty happy with that arrangement.
The two pigs, Penny and Sparky-who-was-Solstice are bagging up and their vulvas are loosening. Any day now I may wake up to more piglets. I have zero idea if Rapunzel and Nox have caught again, or if so when, but they are still nursing the spring piglets on and off so who knows.
Anyhow, time to get the little boars out of here.
The geese are definitely getting fat, first frost ghosted the very tips of the bean leaves Thursday morning, and the wheel is decidedly tilting towards fall. It's been a very short year.
I'm planning on building small shed for my snowblower and rototiller so I can fill the carport with wood and not have to go out to the woodshed to get wood. It is probably for the best, since the woodshed is now the goose shed. I also need to clean out the chicken coop and start deep bedding in there, stock up on straw and hay, cut some wood, and ideally put up that greenhouse.
My 4runner's battery is dead; it's been sitting uninsured while I used the company truck. The geese pulled the trickle charger out of the wall. Gotta figure out if I'm driving it down to the coast or if I'm going to figure out a different situation for the fall pagan pilgrimage.
Also some thoughts on metamours; I'll poke at those in a different post.
