So tomorrow Josh is coming up and we're going to go bear hunting for a couple days, then kill a pig and make sausage with whatever we've got whether that's bear and pig or just pig. It'll be good to get out in the bush again; it's been awhile.

He's also bringing up a smoker to play with, and we'll be putting up the pop-up building when I figure out where to put it.

I have been doing a bunch of prison/police abolition reading lately. It's been super helpful for me; I've really been struggling this past couple months, since covid turned into shaming. Thinking of a world less based on punishment, whether it's punishment by prison or punishment by internet shaming and contempt, lets me feel more ok. It's good to know I'm not alone in those feelings. It's always a bigger job than I expect to be done in my lifetime but it's so good to have something to work towards rather than run away from.

It's also such a relief to read about folks looking for solutions to actually solve problems, rather than to enact vengeance. I needed this now.

I've started up the small incubator so I can pop some quail eggs into it tonight.

The garden is booming along, green tomatoes are popping out daily. I guess I can document how long it takes from tiny green tomato to ripe? Certainly the greenhouse is helping; the plants are much bigger, probably partially because of the lack of wind, but they do also have the first tomatoes. The ones on the deck are a little behind; the ones outside the greenhouse are furthest behind.

Anyhow, I'm super looking forward to playing with pork and butchery.
