Tomatoes, Etc
Sep. 22nd, 2005 11:13 amSo...
...first Cherokee chocolate harvested. It was fantastic. It had a sort of... musky gamey flavour, not just tomato-red-meaty tasting like green zebra, but something low and... oh, I dunno. It was fabulous. It's on the list for next year, with green zebra and sungold.
First brandywine harvested. It was given to CrazyChris. Enjoy it, boyo. Brandywines are the best BLT tomatoes ever; I'll harvest another today and eat it that way.
I actually ate a speckled roman; I really like them as well, they're lovely light sweet tomatoes with a paste texture, that is, firm with little gel. They're not very productive, though.
The black krim are huge, huge, huge tomatoes, but none quite ripe yet. They're, like, 2lb-ers.
