Time, she's a-passin'.
Last weekend I went to the rat show in Port Orchard, WA, which is to Seattle what Mount Lehman is to Vancouver-- a little sattelite town of a slightly-too-far-to-be-a-suburb small city outside a big city. The whole deal was exhausting for a bunch of reasons.
I've been training the new guy at work, which takes different skills than I usually use at work, plus it takes much longer every day, plus it decreases my flexibility hours-wise.
I hadn't slept much when I left, and we were up late grooming rodents and then cleaning up after the show both nights, and we had to get up early on show day.
I didn't come home till 1am, because it took forever to get home and get the rats settled in their quarantine house, then I had to stay away for a couple of hours to make sure I didn't carry something home.
I was nervous about crossing the border, but they were fine with my ID so that was okay.
I had to eat crappy USA close-and-quick food all weekend, which is just brutal.
I had to sit in a car for enough hours that my lower back cramped up.
Highlights of the weekend were many, though next time I'd do it differently. I got a very lovely baby and I got to meet another very lovely baby who will soon be mine-- EAGL Siberian Sky (he's a white boy speckled with russian blue, what else would you call him? EAGL is the breeder prefix) and ROUS Quartz (that name may change). Of course, both are in quarantine right now, so I won't 'really' have them for two weeks.
I got to meet and socialise with the rat club, and I got my judges certification. I got to meet a whole lot of good rats, and choose a boyfriend for Sunday, since she hated Rizzo. She didn't try to kill Tanuki, so we'll see how that goes. I met a potential boyfriend for Angel, too, when it comes to be that time. He's the friendliest boy I could find, so that's good.
I got to be in the states again, and that was good. There were some things I needed to see and realise.
I got to hang out with Lizzy, and get away from home, both of which were nice. I got to show my rats off to little kids who wandered by, which was awesome.
Now I'll go properly climbing, for a good number of hours, which I haven't done for way too long. Blah for being busy.
Less than four weeks left of this job. I can't wait at this point.
