So we're sitting in a skytrain on the platform, and an announcement comes on. It says: this train's gonna be sitting here for awhile, there are problems down the line, please have patience.

The train sits there for awhile, and people start trickling in until the train's really pretty full. Not packed, not rush-hour full, but pretty full.

Someone by the door starts saying: this train's full, go to the next one. It's not that full, but most people listen to her. Eventually she gets tired of having oen or two people come in anyhow, and has her friend forcibly pull the sliding doors shut.

Then an announcement comes on: service is resumed. And the doors try to shut, but it doesn't work. It makes that dinging noise several times that tells you the doors aren't working properly. We sit there for awhile, and they make another announcement: the doors on your train aren't working properly, we'll send someone down, please be patient. So ten minutes later they figure out it was the door that was forced around that was keeping it from working, and we're off after a half-hour wait -- ten or fifteen minutes of which was caused by the fact that humans, in a group, seem incapable of sitting around for ten minutes without destroying things.

Bah.
