It's hard to trust that other people will cooperate with me because for me, any act of agreement or cooperation or submission is a tremendous effort of will. I have workarounds, one of which I now know to be use of "declarative langguage" as described in a handbook for folks with PDA kids, but still my first response will almost always be "no", at least until a couple to many years into working closely with someone.

I have so many workarounds, but this is what I expect.

Except that other folks really do, still, seem to become disenchanted over time.
