To Vancouver/Burnabyites:

I'm looking for a good, poly-friendly counsellor. Not a 'relationship counsellor' but someone to deal with me and my stuff, to which the other people around me (as opposed to my view of them and my stuff around them) are peripheral.

Any recommendations? I haven't a clue where to start. I know some of you have experience with this stuff.

Thanks

I am not sure if she does personal counselling, but she is a registered counsellor and one hell of a great person. As a bonus, poly and kink friendly.

Dr. Pega Ren check her out at http://www.smartsextalk.com/
Her phone number is listed, just give her a call.

I second that. She's the one babboo and I went to, and she's great, friendly, professional, and knows her stuff.

I have a good one

But he's pricey, unless you are an SFU student.

Although it would be nice to have a councillor who is open to poly and has experience with it...I don't think it is strictly necessary. It is mich more important to find someone with whom you are comfortable and have confidence in. If they have been a councillor for any period of time they will have heard of all sorts of craziness with regards to relationships. And poly or no, the difficulties are around relating and self, and that is universal.

Not that you could go see a fundamentalist christian who considers every part of your life a sin...but don't limit your search to "poly" councillors. You will be able to tell in 15 minutes of talking whether or not they can accept your life style choices.

That's where the term 'poly-friendly' comes from. :) Not poly, just someone who can deal.

[livejournal.com profile] cyan_blue is a poly-friendly counselor, and also has connections with other such people. You might wish to talk to her.
