Also washing machine broke. I can work around a lot of things, but in my household? Not a clothes washer. All the new ones are 1000+ dollars and have WIFI, AI, and goodness knows what else.

Do you have a local Habitat for Humanity store? We bought a used one for much less than the price of new, and it lasted longer than our previous one (which was bought new).

No, we don't. It's pretty expensive to get stuff up to the North here, so it's interesting just how much of a premium that puts on used anything, from appliances and cars to dressers and chairs. Used things are more expensive than I'm used to from the city and they sell very very quickly. It's one of the things I miss about a city populated with rich people who replace all their stuff every couple years!

Crap. We have an LG that was around $600, does an outstanding job with a fast spin cycle, and doesn't have the Wifi crap. Would recommend it.

Thank you! I see that LG are rated highly so I'm looking into them. I'll avoid looking up the exchange rate to see what $600 US is like up here though. ;)
