Ghost and Ashes.

Bus today was cool and surreal. There was someone with a double bass (the REALLY BIG stringed things played with a bow?) in the front of the bus. He was wearing long hair, a neatly clipped full beard, a black business suit, and a silver skull ring.
In the front with him was someone with a bright red guitar and someone with another instrument (violin? something smaller). They were not all together; they got off at different stops, all of them.
There were many kids on skytrain; I guess it's the holiday.
It was an absolutely beautiful day today, to those who didn't notice. Sunny and gorgeous, breathtakingly so. My client was my favourite one, and we chatted a bit. I like her house. I've been having an odd sense of familiarity in my clients' houses lately; probably because I've spent more time there than either home or Chris' place, and so I -am- more familiar. The beeches are finally dropping their leaves all over. I got to walk past the co-op garden on approximately 4th and Trafalgar, which is really nice. A lot of those gardens look good at this time of year.
It's time for poppies to be disposed of, bits of plastic that fall in the street and sometimes make it far enough to mingle in the leaves. I've never dug up a poppy in a garden, though you find things like beer cans and plastic spoons and chip wrappers there all the time. They disappear pretty thoroughly.
The Westender has a good cover today. The slogan is: Workers of the World, Relax, and the picture is of the black sickle on red background with the addition of black cobwebs. I thought about it for a bit, and I'm for mindful 'underemployment' as part of a local system which also includes volunteerism, barter/exchange of services, reuse rather than disposability, homescale food production as well as public-space food production, and mindful consumerism.
I had the thought to make my own poppies out of fabric scraps this year, but I didn't.
