Bah. Poked my head back into the world of music aquisition recently and was told to use bittorrent. Bittorrent, it says, is really easy. Well, it's not. It annoys me to no end to not have one nice, easy client interface, to need to crawl around on the web across poorly designed sites and not generally find what I want anyhow.

Am I doing this totally wrong? Or is that just what it's like?

If I am doing this right, is there an alternative? One with, like, an interface?

BitTorrent is just a client for downloading large files really fast. You gotta find the files, first. To do that, you need to find what they call a Tracker, so named because it keeps track of the torrents in progress and it's what the client actually connects to in order to find people to download from.

Most of the good tracker sites require logins, as they track how much you download versus how much you upload (uploading happens automatically as you download and after you finish if you leave the client open). The logins are easy and quick to get, though I used an email address I don't care about because I'm paranoid that way. At least, that's the case for anime I've found.

Try suprnova.org or just google for "torrent [what you're looking for]".

On the other hand, why not just use a good gnutella client like LimeWire and do it the old-fashioned way?

Oh, and if the program itself is bothering you, go download a copy of Azureus as it's a much nicer BitTorrent client than the original one. Unless Java isn't installed on that machine, and then don't bother.
