Juggler and I triumphed over the kayak strips last night.

We needed to cut an 18' long board lengthwise into 1/4" strips. Think about that level of precision for a moment... you're running something eighteen feet long through a blade, and you need to keep it from wobbling along the whole length; you must be accurate enough that the thing stays 1/4" wide. You need to do this a whole bunch of times.

We finally found a setup with the tablesaw that worked okay.

It was fun.

I love cedar. This board was pink, white, and brown inside.

Now, I will try to be on time for work.

Huh.

It's really amazing how much feedback I get from hearing. I use it to know when my fork is slipping off my plate, so the fork doesn't fall completely and spill lasagne on the floor. I use it to know mwhen I've hit the right number of keys on the keyboard, to be aware of typoes and misses. Without hearing I'm unaware of anything behind me, as if that part of the world were blank instead of something that stays in my background awareness. This is just stuff I've figured out wearing Juggler's ear protection while sitting at the computer in the last fifteen mins. I'm sure there's more.
