May is actually the cruelest month
May. 26th, 2014 11:57 pmI was expecting May to be a relatively laid-back month where I could recover from moving and ramp up to summer and complete the tourist challenge. Instead work has gone absolutely crazy, the trail end of moving is drawing out in an incredibly difficult way, UBC got real weird about acceptance, and I'm too broke to get appropriate storage devices for my new place. Plus I guess I have 4-5 folks on the spectrum from partnered to kinda sorta seeing sometimes.
I'd like to spend some time sitting on the beach three blocks from my home in this gorgeous weather but it hasn't yet been in the cards.
Everything should wind down into normal (read: pleasant) summer chaos when this month is over, beginning with a trip to Portland with Dave. It'll be a busy summer.
I've been brewing again a little after the hiatus forced on me by moving, and I'm excited about the results. Also some of the stuff I made last fall is beginning to be drinkable and even good. So that's great.
Stuff with Dave is really fun, though I'm navigating the emotional shoals of 'what do I want out of this and is it compatible with what he wants'. It's an ongoing process and will be for a bit, I think, leaving me occasionally a bit unsteady but also like progress on the question is being made.
Because I'm so busy I'm trying not to act out of obligation to folks, which is what I feel when I'm too busy to have sufficient time to myself but still set aside time for other folks. Books fit much better into my schedule and budget than actual humans.
Just a quick update before I fall over dead tired for the night. Be well.
