I just realized that when I was a kid, the only thing I reliably got from my parents was food. Like, they might be an hour late to pick us up from school and have the teachers trying to call them because they wanted to go home, or they might ignore us or not have clothes that were quite warm enough or fit or whatever, but every evening we sat down to dinner.

I guess it makes sense that I think of food as the thing you do for people you love.

I guess it also makes sense that I can't eat when I don't feel like I'm worthy of love.

And that the ground, the earth that makes my food, it loves me.
