Yes, I thought you probably had enough geeks in your life to take care of that. :)
But them letting you run out of room on you computer! For shame!

The only thing on my computer is a bunch of text files. Apparently it's impossible to fill up a hard drive with text files.

I think they forgot to take the extreme antiquity of the computer into account.

I know I'm probably going to be out of luck here, but I'll ask anyway. What kind of computer is it?

P90 with a 1 Gig drive.

New computer will be a P2/550 with a 1.5 Gig drive.

Maybe we should rethink that drive size thing...

I don't think upgrading from a 1 gig to a 1.5 gig is going to do you much good for the annoyance it causes.. Unless (!) you add the 1 gig drive to the new computer as a slave. That'd probably save alot of trouble and ensure Greenstrom doesn't loose anything she likes.

It took me at least three years to fill up the one gig.

Something bigger would be fun in a penis-size sort of way, come to think of it. I could even pay for something newish and have the next seven decades taken care of.

I do hope you have backups of your stuff somewhere...

I don't keep anything on the computer that I can't deal with losing. It would just make me annoyed.

Although I think I have a bunch of CDs of the unsorted HD lying around somewhere. Now those would be painful to go though.

The original plan called for the P90 to be reconfigured as a sound server for the network and household jukebox. That will need at least a Gig in a pince and preferably more, so there is a definite shortage of storage devices here.

As for the reasons for the new computer, speed was the primary issue; storage or lack thereof was secondary.

Besides, most of those "bitty text files" are archival material, and that's what a CD burner is for.

Well, plans can be revised... If only we could get a hold of a couple 4 or 10 Gig drives, there'd be no problem.

How's $50 sound? I won't have it to spare until the next VP meet, though.
