Atmosphere
Aug. 21st, 2005 10:47 pmOh yeah. On the weekend, Juggler and I went to a place on Main and King Edward called Helen's Diner. This place is not the cheapest diner in the city, but I think it's the best. Why?
- I've been there twice now, and it's obvious that of the two waitresses I had, one was the mother and one the middle-aged daughter. They were diner-y, that is, they treated you like people, not like factory sausages like fast food people do, and were kinda chatty but not obtrusive and, as I said, seemed related.
- Jukeboxes on each table with awesome old music. I played 'Oh What A Night' by The Four Seasons, Juggler played 'Only the Lonely' by Orbison.
- Yummiest pancakes ever.
- Low bar from which you can see the kitchen.
- Lots of windows and plants all over.
- Banana splits.
