Phew. Yay. Whee.
Feb. 2nd, 2006 07:58 pmOkay-o. Housing thing resolved in a useful way. I'm gonna go live with Tillie in her 1-bdrm for March and maybe April, while Graham takes the only big thing I own-- my bed, which he needs anyhow, since his is little. Then either Tillie and I get accepted into a 2-bdrm place for april or May in a co-op three blocks away from Graham's current place, right on the Drive, or I do my apartment hunting in leisurely fashion from Tillie's. On the off chance that 1) the application is rejected before March 1st and 2) I find some sort of wonderful place between the rejection and March 1st, I'll still be sliding straight into a place of my own.
This means! None of this forgetting how to speak English crap (it's already happening with no socialisation in the evenings, it's crazy). It means! I get to keep a substantial fraction more of my paycheque. It means! I don't need to househunt right now, and can hopefully drop some of this anxiety I'm carrying around, and also can enjoy this upcoming weekend as I try to remember what other peoples' skin feels like.
Do you know, I slept in pyjamas last night? I was cold, this bed is stiff and minimalist in covers both (wheras I'm a one-foot-of-down-deep sorta girl), and it felt natural. Weird. I never do that.
Given lots of sunlight and my own internal clock, I find myself getting tired at 9pm and waking at 5am.
Tomorrow's gonna be fun. Tonight is already fun. I got this book-- The Green Reader. It's exerpts of lots of things a la the Norton Reader, with a 'Green' theme. Fascinating-- the guy who edited it made great choices. I'll quote later, I promise. I've also talked on the phone today more than at any other time in the last while, and am doing the final decision on which permaculture course to apply to-- the one in the Interior, or the one on Vancouver Island. I'm doing final costing-out of accomodations (not so important given this move), trying to compare atmosphere, etc. Stick 'our ecovillage' and 'spiral farm' into google (first hit for both) and tell me where I should do my Permaculture Design Certificate and why. Likely I'll do it at the other place next year. ;)
