...of my livejournal post. There's a lot a lot a lot to say, so I'll begin somewhere random, having got that beginning out of the way. Bolded for skimmers.

I gave notice today. Tillie and I are moving on the 30th of April, which is the same day she's getting back from a wedding in Seattle. We are 99% certain to be moving to another suite within this building. We will supply rental dollies, but I will need a lot of help. We will be packed by this time. It's a weekend. Come out and move stuff a floor up or down, people, please?

It turns out it's really good we didn't wait another month, because I'm going to be very, very busy at the end of May. The last weekend in May is planting weekend, which means I'll be busy Monday through that weekend to the next Friday, with every available day taken up with doing the outdoor spring replanting. I need to be at my permaculture course June 8th, which means I need to leave a couple of days early to do the drive. I need to pack for that two-week camping stint before I go. I need advice. There will be running water and "cooking facilities". So, basically mid-May through June will be taken up with work or school one way or the other, with hopefully a couple of extra days off work right around the permaculture thing. We'll see.

The VanDusen plant sale is on April 30th. That's moving day. Given the choice between the one weekend and the other, I'd still rather move this day, but it's gonna hurt to miss volunteering for the weekend. Sigh. I'll get a day or two in, but there's no way I can volunteer for the actual sale day. I'll miss the gates opening and the frontrunners sprinting in with their wheelbarrows, kicking up a rumble that can be heard as you wait inside. At least, if I volunteer on Saturday, I can still buy stuff then.

With all that scheduling aside, I have a lovely free weekend this weekend. Well, realistically it's not 100% free, since I need to get the house presentable for viewing cause we gave notice, but I am in a cleaning mood, and that's good. It's the organising that always gets me. Ack, organising! On the plus side, I scrubbed out the inside of the stove, etc. It'll make the moving clean much nicer if I do most of it piecemeal now.

I just got finished with a week that's been really frightening for me. From about Sunday to about Thursday morning I was pretty much crazy, back to my old (2001-2003) self. I'd laughingly blamed it on PMS at first (assuming I was able to laugh, which heights of my sense of humour only occurred in half-hour bouts once a day or so) but now I'm not so sure. This hasn't been a symptom of my cycle quite so strongly before-- though being irritating is, I don't think the complete terribleness of this has hit me like that before. The symptoms include absolutely no sense of humour, irritation/hatred at/for every human being ever, difficulty in curbing my tongue, a constant really nasty monologue going on in my head, high body heat, um... I'm sure there was more. It really frightened Juggler and Graham, I think. Part of it is the total inability to think rationally, or really to think at all. Anyhow, it sucked, it's over now. Part of it may have been not having any time to myself for the last month-- it mysteriously faded quite a bit when I got the bedroom alone for the night and slept with the door closed (thank you, Tillie!) and began around the serious move discussion plus discussion of Tillie's allergies to the rats (can you say stress?). It's not 100% gone, but I'm me again, so that's good.

There have been really good things this week too (and the whole time-- part of the maddening thing in the above paragraph is that I do intellectually know I love my life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, I just want to murder people). Among the really good things is dancing with Trevor last night-- I got home at 3am --and getting my first contacts. Contacts are fucking awesome. I always thought that without my glasses I'd feel like an arm was missing, but after only one day in contacts (I need to step the overall time up gradually, so I'm not wearing them today but only 'this evening') I feel like an amputee without them. Contact lenses give me full 3-d peripheral vision. Even people with glasses that I've talked to don't understand this one, I find, probably because my prescription is so strong. Without my glasses, I can't see anything more than three feet away with any degree of accuracy/recognition. My brain can process the blurs, but it's all processing, and it takes time. There's almost no actual vision involved. With contacts, there is so much information coming at me from literally all sides that it hurts my brain. I can see right and left and up and down without looking in those directions. I mean, holy fuck, the world is big! I feel like I'm standing in a scale model or something, there's such depth of vision as well. Everything looks pretty flat through my glasses. So, yeah, I'm a big fan, can't you tell? Especially if I end up with the two-week or one-month leave-ins. I was almost crying yesterday, the amount of sight felt like such a miracle. Plus, I get to poke my eyes without blinking which is one of those awesome aquired skills like controlling my gag reflex or breathing that I love doing. Also, I have the friendliest optometrist ever.

What else is happening? Well, my baby rats have been born and are a-growin'. Obviously I can't pick them up until I've moved due to Tillie's trouble with close proximity to them, but they aren't really close to that stage yet, so that's not too bad. They are Miss Elisabeth and Amber in the 'Survivor Litter' at http://ratanist.com/ in the 'available babies' section. Aren't they gorgeous? Look at Amber's fur! That coat is unreal. I get to see them for the first time on April 9th, don't wanna forget that date, when I meet the local rat community for the first time. Just what I need, more communities (tone: put-upon long-suffering with a grin and eye-twinkle, oh woe is me, I found lots of people who like lots of the different things I do).

Yep, sense of humour back. Sunny out. Good.

I'd like to go dancing once a week regularly, I don't care if it's to the techno stuff I've been going to, if it's folk or swing dancing, clubbing, or whatever. Anyone else in for a night or two in the future sometime? The only thing is, it cannot be Monday night because Tuesday I have to fit in both work and volunteering at VanDusen, so I need my sleep.

Oh, yeah. VanDusen Guide season starts April 1st so you can get a free tour of the garden any day thereafter; I'm there on Tuesdays with my grandma stand-ins. It's awesome, I missed them so much.

This Monday I'm going to some angst-noir abstract movie thing with the KMM crowd if anyone wants to come. Should be... something. Interesting, perhaps?

Next Monday I'm cooking family dinner again. I may do one sometime during the week, too, because I miss them and because having people come over helps me keep my house clean (incentive, baybee). So, yeah.

I've been mostly too busy to post until just now, but there's also some computer issue stuff going on. If anyone has a spare, working computer mouse in Vancouver that they can give to us, that would be awesome.

This has been your lengthy lj post o' the while. Be well.

I'd love to help you two move, but I'm already helping someone else move that weekend. What is it with Spring moves, it's like Spring babies!

The thought is appreciated. It feels like I'm always moving, it's not just a spring thing. Hopefully this is the last for awhile.

Ditto. Our move is done, and the next place had better be the house I live in for the rest of my life!

Do you want boxes for moving?
Do you want to use my tent for your camping?

I will be available on the 30th - how about a date to attend the plant sale super-early-first-thing, then we do the moving?

We don't need any boxes until after the 13th, but at that point it would be cool to have them (no space until then for packing)

I would be satisfied with more than a year for the next place.

I would love to use your tent, it was awesome at the folk fest.

Awesome re: the 30th. What time are you thinking? I'm not sure when it opens, I'll admit.

I'll see how many 'good' boxes I can put aside in the storage locker - and I have some Rubbermaid boxes as well.

Consider the tent reserved for your use - it's still not packaged properly from after the last time, so I'll have to make sure all the pieces are there.

I dunno when it opens either - I'll let you figure that out!
