off-topic but would you like another rat? My brother Cale has one but he's a wretchedly neglectful 'parent' and my mother can't bear it anymore. The rat is to be found a new home with someone who's willing to care for him.
Alright. I can bring him home from my mother's today.
(It's not a rush thing or anything. I thought it would take awhile to find him somewhere. I figured that if nothing else, a friend with kids might take him too. Horray educational pets.)
He's here now, free for pick-up any time. he has a small traveling cage and a rather beat up larger carge, not huge or anything. He doesn't come with food or a water dish, they were feeding him left-overs and having him drink from a saucer. (You can see why he had to be taken away to somewhere safer?)
Any suggestions for where to 'set up camp' when we get there Saturday morningish? We're bringing a tarp and a blanket to put down on top of it - we will have some camp chairs in the car, and I read that you have to sit behind everyone and not block views of the stage. Are there shady spots to be had? ThatGuy got sunstroke at the PNE after about an hour and a half....
Also on the list, frozen water, sandwiches, fruit, sunblock, hats, sunglasses. Suggestions?
Facing the main stage is a stand of trees on top of an old concrete foundation. Behind there (further from the stage) is usually where the beer garden is set up, but it's far enough away that sitting in front of the foundation in the shade of the huge trees isn't too close. People with chairs usually set up here until it's full, and then spread right and a bit left into the sunny areas. There's also a big tree way off to the right near the temporary fence that you can set up under, but its angle to the stage makes it significantly farther than the spot in front of the foundation. It's peaceful and un-traffic-y there, though.
Re: frozen water, I wouldn't. I'd just chill it-- there's nothing worse than water that you want to drink that's still frozen, and that's something I've had to deal with before.
