*nod* Sometimes I learn a lot from viewing the train wrecks, but most of the time it's the same old thing over and over.

I saw this documentary awhile ago that had a person step right in front of a train because he didn't look to see if the track he was crossing was in fact empty. Does that count as the same old train wreck if it's just the train wrecking someone?

Yep. I watched as two people tried to cross the tracks at a MARC station. The engineer blew his horn as he departed, they ignored him. Then you heard the TWEET of the Acela bearing down on them.

They jumped clear with a second or so to spare. A few months earlier someone else was not so lucky; they crossed behind the last train of the evening. We found what was left the next morning; I always wonder if he had a wife who wondered when he would come home...

Sometimes people don't learn.
