It's less than two weeks until I go up there now.

The guy I was training didn't work out for the company. Apparently I was good at training, and if I want to come back I can do management in the fall. Hm.

I'm just not cut out to work the whole 40-hour full-time thing. I do it froom sheer bullheadedness, but it's not what I want. I can do intense, heavy work-weeks of 60 or more hours for a couple of weeks, but then I need slack weekswith extra days off. I like rhythms like that. Let's see how this summer goes. The great thing about the job I'm leaving is that I can come back to it at three days a week, or two long days a week, or whatever. That makes the Agroecology thing at UBC much more possible, too.

My house is remarkably barren of rats, still. Quarantine ends this coming weekend, two weeks after the show. I get my pregnant Sunny, my Angel, Paris, Hector, and my two babies: Sky and Quartz-who-needs-a-new-name. Have I mentioned that I think I want to get my official rattery prefix before Angel is bred, which means in the next couple of months. I need a website up for that. Huh. In Kelowna I expect I'll only have internet access at cafes. I can *draw* the designs up, though, and impliment them when I get back down.

The housewarming went well on the weekend, as did the World Rat Day party. Bob hosted the housewarming, Lizzy the rat party, and I did a bunch of the cleaning in both cases, then lay back and enjoyed the parties until I fell asleep. It's a good way to do things. Cool people came by-- Tillie and Meg and Beth and Eva and CrazyChris and Nick and Doug and Cat and whoever else (I mostly remember people through food, backrubs, and rats, don't mind me)-- and I could fall asleep mid-party during a backrub (Beth, you rock). I also don't mind cleaning so much, but I do mind keeping an eye on parties, and organising, and all that jazz.

The housewarming also got everything unpacked and lovely-clean. Now I need to start packing (sparingly) into the tupperware tubs I'll live out of this summer, but everything's out of boxes and I can lay hands on it.

I think on Thursday I'm gonna buy some mussels and BBQ them. Anyone wanna come over and bring something burnable, even if it's zucchini and peppers? That's the day before the long weekend.

I'm back to climbing twice a week, not as good as I'd like but not terrible. My goal for this week is three times. Blah for figuring my way around a new city, and deciding how to get to the climbing gym there/whether I should/etc. Blah, too, for not finding any ballroom dancing classes there. Oh, well.

My hair is a beautiful shade of green right now. It's so lovely that I'm debating doing a short cut and then an all-over dye as opposed to the current halo thing. I don't think I could maintain long hair bleached all over, it's too much work.

My stuff is planted in the garden, bamboo and more bamboo (p. Henon and straight nigra), evergreen and red native huckleberries, blueberries, hyacinths, oregon grape, my camellia sinesis is still out there (that's 'tea' to you laymen ;), etc.

I've discovered facebook, which seems to be a lovely way of making sure people I went to hugh school with are still alive. If only I weren't so busy, I'd actually have time to do something with that information. I really should rediscover letter writing ini Kelowna. It seems about time for it, after the cellphone-and-internet cycle I've just been through.

I miss eating things out of the garden.

I'm happy about the direction of my life right now. Who'd have ever thought I'd be so content? I used to hate that word when I was a teenager, equating it with stagnation, but now I see that you can have stability where you want it and still have good change in your life.
