Saddest Thing

Silver is still hanging out by the cage door, perking up every time I walk in, waiting for Lightning. Everyone else is in the hammock upstairs. They were together for all their lives.

Angel, her daughter, has just gone to hang out with Silver. It makes me feel a little better, at least.

It does hit your heart kind of hard, doesn't it? Especially when we have no way of sitting them down and explaining it to them, as we might a child.
