Here We Go
Apr. 6th, 2008 07:42 pmAngus/monogamy note removed from facebook profile. Angst be damned; the world's too big to keep this up as often as I was.
Today was househunting. I'm looking around because I'm not one-hundred-per-cent sure I *can* take over Angus' place, as in, I'm not sure they'll let me, so I'm scouting out the lay of the land etc. It's kind of fun to walk into these spaces. Some immediately feel right but wouldn't be practical, some feel wrong but look awesome, and some look like they could be made to work. Nothing as yet that sends my heart soaring like the place at 41st and Victoria where Angus lives (and that is of course not practical: expensive and out-of-the-way, but so huge and beautifully unsurrounded by people and imagine a fountain on that deck and a bamboo surround and a greenhouse out there and a pottery wheel in the kitchen!)
It's a bit of a depressing game, though, because no one really says no to your face, and I wish they did. They don't say "we got a hundred replies on craigslist, you've got rats and that squicks me out, you're about fortieth on the list" and I do wish they did. I mean, you can say something like that even before you check references, right? Also it's interesting how many people ask me if the rats will "get out and breed in the walls" and then look dubious when I say no.
Oh well. It *is* fun to go play potential-house, and it got me out in this... weather, which was an experience. Rain, sun, gloom, sun, rain, gloom, rain, sun... yep. And I got my nap in just now so theoretically I have enough energy to fix something for me and the rats. I'm in one of those mellow sit-at-the-internet moods, though, and although the computer is boring it's compelling.
There are spanking sounds coming from downstairs. It makes me grin.
Tomorrow I really do need to head out to buy new contacts and pick up some more rat food from Lizzy. I'd just so had enough of transit after going from Kits to Strathcona to the Drive and home again. I'm glad the ability to sleep is catching up with me. I do need to check sometime, though: I think my need for sleep may be linked to the level of my meat consumption, generally.
Ahwell. On to that dinner thing. Be well, guys.

Date: 2008-04-08 05:54 pm (UTC)heeheehee! I never told my landlord I had two rats in Ottawa, but you do have significantly more, and several cages to boot ;)They just liked to get in (and play in the insulation) behind the dishwasher and refuse to come out until I offered food....
