greenstormNo one posts to lj on New Year's Eve. I'm sitting around with Glenn Miller playing In The Mood super loud before heading out to the Dreadnoughts. There's too much black ice on the side roads, and too many drunks on the main streets, for me to feel comfortable biking tonight. Luckily six people from this household are heading to the same place as I am tonight, so co-cabbing is an option; luckily because the wait for cabs tonight is going to be so long as to be ludicrous and company will be welcome.
Implette died yesterday. She was less than a year old; I know of no reason she should have gone, but she did. Her breathing was fine, she had no tumours: that's 80% of rat causes of death out of the way. So...?
Down to 24 rats at home now. My goal is maybe 20 or so, although 24 is pretty manageable. I don't like how quickly I'm achieving it.
New Year? Not hardly. This is the dead of the old. New years' comes with the first hazelnut blossoms, tiny red things on twigs under a yellow sun in air that smells like the first stirrings of awakening. It's followed closely by flowering apricots, by the chinese new years' parade, things like that. This is just another of those inexplicable white-person holidays that involves spending money and fucking with normal important body things like eating and drinking well and sleeping enough.
Angus is working tonight. Last year he was in Las Vegas. I'm getting really tired of the kissing part of the New Year celebration, you know?
