My spinach is up. My radishes are up. My arugula, mustard greens, and kohlrabi is up. Some of my salad mixes are up. Waiting mostly on chard and lettuce. It's supposed to be hot this week, which should help make up for the late start.

I need to do the back garden.

I'm not sure if I'm being discussed with or baited on the lj vancouver community. Be interesting to see shortly.

Now for housecleaning!

Huh. The poster over at [livejournal.com profile] vancouver seems to either not understand, not have read, or is misrepresenting that "study" (really a lit review refuting another lit review) that they linked to.

The line in the paper about organic farming being dominated by "ideology" was rich irony, coming from an international association of food scientists. Food can only be produced by SCIENCE!

Science -- as in the scientific method, where you try a bunch of different things, make observations, test some more things, see what works best, etc, is really the only way to grow food well. It's a shame more people don't _do_ that. Instead they read about bottom lines and follow agribusiness ads.

And yeah, I think that guy summed up his ability to reply coherently with the 'plants create carbon dioxide, destroying the planet' type message.
