ToDo Fail

Today I went out to find footwear, since I've worn holes in basically all of mine and now it's all leaking. I needed:

a pair of runner-type shoes
a pair of waterproof and kinda pretty boots for when I'm not working or running
a pair of (ideally teflon or composite plated) workboots

I failed at all these: the places I went were either wrong or sold out or too frustrating or too sweatshop-feeling or too far off on my pricepoint.

I did get a copy of champions online and some juice, which should help keep this sore throat from turning into a real sick (it's just a ghost right now).

Tonight I am going to pull two kilos or so of nice friendly pork with a mango jalapeno cranberry mustard sauce, which should keep the boy and I in lunches for a couple of days. I will also roast and mash a cauliflower and splurge on a bottle of little creek dressing while I'm at it. I wish (I wish I wish) there was a place to get local greens close by, instead of the earthbound organic ones. I would like to live closer to Eternal Abundance on the Drive, and that magic little organic-co-op triangle, but I don't. I should look into nowbc or something...

I am glad I was outside in that splash of sunshine. It's dark and rainy again, and I think I'll curl up with my new game now and make some characters.

I was fascinated and somewhat horrified to read about the Earthbound Organics operation in 'Omnivor's Dilemma.' I'm still harvesting tiny bunches of lettuce greens from the garden on non-frosty days. The bounty will soon be over though, and I didn't plant into the greenhouse as I was secretly hoping to harvest some decent peppers. Lesson learned - peppers and I don't mixh - I'll still do tomatoes next year, but will be looking at greens and cabbage direct-seeded in there for winter harvest. The melons succeeded, but didn't pack enough punch for the space used.
