Note to self: put perogies in The Other House's freezer so I can eat more often there.

Note to others: www.missionfolkmusicfestival.ca . My yearly spiritual event.

Aside from the money thing, I haven't really found the other things you mention to be a problem... I agree it's expensive. But maybe we have different standards for "crowded" and "happy to be there". :)

It's a comparison thing. Come to the Mission festival and you'll see. Camping on-site and I'll lure you to a high-carb spaghetti dinner at least one of the nights if you come! I can't normally stand spaghetti but something needs to fuel that dancing.

Hey, thought you two were going to come see Ani with me at the Vancouver Folk Fest? Kynnin was talking about it, anyway. I'm just going for the day on Sunday (as I need to save my energy for the Mission festival the following weekend ;-)

I know he wanted to go, and I could be enticed, but my actual enthusiasm isn't extremely high. Then again, I haven't seen the list of performers for that day yet.

Yeah, it's not posted yet. I'm watching for it though so I'll let you know.

I'm definitely up for the one day. What are ticket prices like? Where can I get one? When can/should I?

She's a little pricey, sadly. They do appear to be on sale now. The info is here:

I'm definitely going, but have not bought a ticket yet. I'd really, really like you to be there with me, so let me know what you think.

$55 isn't too much to swallow. One day will be fun; more and I'll overdose on festivals by the end of the week. :)

Do you know any local places where tickets can be had, or is the phone the best way to order?

Yeah, that's why I'm only going to the one day of this one -- and I probably wouldn't be going at all if it weren't for Ani. Besides, I want to compare them both in stark contrast to see what Erin is talking about regarding atmosphere etc.

I can subject you to more Ani if you like ;-)

Oh, yeah, duh, your question. Me not thinking straight atm.

I don't know of anywhere else to get tickets ([livejournal.com profile] breklor, do you?) other than the listed phone number. Entirely possible that they're available at some local record store or something; I'll let you know if I find anything out and can pick some up for us.

In music as in movies, my experience is terribly limited. Which is to say that I might enjoy that, but we'll just have to try it to find out, won't we? :)

I play her stuff all the time, and I haven't heard you complain yet :)

Hrm. Oh. Huh.

Well, next time I seem to be enjoying some of her stuff, point it out. I will be amused by my total lack of awareness. :)

Oh my. I'm already booked for that Friday (Changeling, but I suppose I could skip that...) and Saturday (Illuminares, which I never miss)... is there still stuff going on Sunday night?

I'm trying to go easy on the carbs, but I can't imagine turning down a spaghetti dinner at a folk festival :)

Generally large quantities of carbs make me go icky-moodswing-lazy-lethargic, but I do notice that intensive exercise before does something about that.

If I had a BBQ I'd get the Juggler to create meat products for us, if I had a working oven I'd figure out ribs. But spaghetti it is, easy, quick, and low-equipment-cost. Alas.

:)

Sunday night is the finale -- there are day stages and an evening concert.

Oh aye, no doubt :) I do have a semi-portable firepit, but it's quite large, requires significant amounts of firewood and is definitely not public-transit-friendly. You are, however, welcome to use it if you want :)
