A little more sleep and some light newsmagazine reading and I'm feeling a bit better, though still at some remove emotionally from other people. I'm looking forward to this nursery visit and to food when I finally get around to doing the dishes and thus freeing up some counter space.
I need to remember to plant my sunflowers since I haven't got around to that yet, and I'm pondering bringing the ground cherries out to the Other House to plant them there. Hmm.
When I went out this morning a huge spider had spun a web right across the carnation half of the deck, which left me able to reach the majority of my roses without disturbing him but not my other stuff. They have it hard this time of year, I think: the cottonwood fluff catches on the webs and renders them completely visible. I hope he still manages to catch some aphids -- they're starting to show up on Buttercup.
Oh! And I found a ladybug larva on my watering can after doing some watering, so I know they're laying eggs. That's the best news -- the ladybug larva eat more aphids than the adults, I believe. They're also neat-looking, like little dragons.
The male kiwi is blossoming but the female isn't yet. I hope she hurries up because that pollen won't stick around for long. Time to get out the paintbrush and transfer, soon.
Mint's looking really healthy. I'm thinking I need to chop it back for some tea and have one of those nice evenings alone tonight. It's interesting how reverent I tend to feel when I'm eating something I've grown. This is the body of something I've raised, it's potential life that is going to nourishment.
But, no time for too much of this now. I have dishes and food to deal with. Care.
