I thought growing stuff up here would be boring.

We have a smaller set of things we can grow, but the season is like riding a rocket, and there are fewer diseases etc than down south.

These are the varieties of apples I'm planting this year, with date of origin:
~1700 Ashmead's kernel (my favourite outside golden russet)
~1940 Wickson crab
Modern Dexter Jackson
1993 Enterprise
1920/2008 Frostbite (used in breeding programs for decades before it was given a public release)
~1800 Golden Russet
1950 Goodland
1831 Hudson's Golden Gem
1930 Redfield
1986 September Ruby
<1822 Tolman Sweet
1973 Trailman crab
1868 Wealthy (first full-sized apple grown in minnesota)
~1870 Wolf River

(among my plums is a german prune plum from the 16th century, also very cool)

Not boring.
