Planted today:

Refugee (heritage harvest) and coco (pr seeds) shelling bean.

Red swan (hh), calima (william dam) and honey wax (salt spring) green/pink/yellow beans. Tossed some cilantro in the dry beans.

Also put borealis and tundra haskap in the ground.

In addition to the couple I'd bought potted in 1 gal containers previously, my horticultural splurge this year was little plugs of many varieties of haskaps, so I'll definitely keep you updated. They grow very well up here in zone 3/4 and so far have bounced back from an amazing array of things. They also seem to be eaten by voles/mice much less than the hardy cherries, which were basically obliterated over winter.

I'm really curious about comparisons between the flavours and sizes.

I am also in zone 3/4! (I think we're technically 5b? Or something? But we drop down to -40C, so I tend to assume zone 3 to be on the safe side).

Oh neat! We've been aaaaallllllmost to -40C, but not quite there. It was enough. How hot do you get in the summer?

We hit about 40C in the summer, for... maybe a week? Usually in August.
It's a biiiiiiiig temperature range. I would be a lot less okay with the very cold temperatures if they weren't balanced out like that, though.

That would be very nice for my plants, I bet everything would ripen!

I am shocked at how much I like the cold. The coast was a sea of grey and mud for eight months of the year: I would not keep pigs or ducks in that climate. Frozen water is a bit of a logistics issue but nothing compared to the mud. And, of course, the cold keeps so many plant diseases away.

I will envy your summer heat a little, though.
