I Am Grateful For...

greenstorm...the people I love, who love me back. Darthmaus, Saxifrage00, and the Juggler especially, but also all those people who come and go and create nice little bits of my life though they aren't woven through every scene. There are a lot of them, but just now I'm thinking about Trevor, and Kyle, and Estrellada, and _locke, and _greenwitch_, and Sandra, and also someone I haven't seen in a year or so named Sean. These are people who care for me and are nice to me, who give me friendship ungrudgingly and take joy in my company. I think that's a wonderful, amazing thing and I'm glad to know them, those on the list and those off it who do the same thing.
...this weather, dammit, which keeps getting better. Today wasn't sunny, it was overcast but warm and the air was damp and there was a bare hint of cold breeze blowing and a tiny sprinkle of rain, but the concrete retained warmth so everything was the perfect temperature overall with little eddies which thrilled the skin.
...all the usuals, parent, brother, pets. ;) I especially love the face that these things are cool *every day*. How much better can it get than to have things that are dependably cool in your life all the time?
...food. Especially eggplant and asparagus.
...learning. I love the way the world is put together, with lots of good ways to do things. Intensive food gardening in an urban backyard, for instance, combines tons of neat techniques and materials and reasons for things that all fit together to make sense. It's wonderful when things make sense, and then you can extrapolate and do stuff with that sense. :)
...vacuums, especially shopvacs, because they make cleaning up a lot easier.
...long weekends, because even when I don't have them off they feel like a party.
...the sunrise this morning, which only I in the entire world saw, and it was beautiful. I saw it from bed, right out the window, from beside someone I love. I didn't have to get out of the blankets, and fell asleep again when it was done. It was _very beautiful_.

Date: 2004-04-13 11:54 am (UTC)I'm not here this weekend, but we must plan for a nursery excursion on the 25th! There's a red-flowered dogwood at the corner of my street, and the gunnera (not fatsia) we were talking about - the HUGE one, has started to poke through the soil at the bottom of 8th Ave. hill near North Road....and my lettuce seedling are poking through the soil!!!!
