Good Things
Apr. 29th, 2004 11:36 amo My online friends. They really cheered me up last night.
o Positive phrasing and the people who use it. "Why don't we try this" instead of "the way we're doing this sucks." I could learn a lot more about this than I know.
o Pets that actually smell *good*. Not their bedding when freshly changed, but the pet themselves if you clean out the cages a reasonable once-twice weekly.
o Morning sunshine, have we ever been blessed in that regard lately.
o Cherry trees, soon one will be mine.
o Friendly hanging-out.
o Sleep.
o Good books.
o Lists of good things.
o Naming of pets. The boy rats are finally named: Merlyn and Arthur. The guy claims that it's Arthur Dent and Merlyn, rather than Arthur-the-King and Merlyn. I am undecided.

Date: 2004-04-29 11:36 am (UTC)I think I mentioned in my LJ that Gareth's pet rat Mobeeler passed away a few weeks ago, of a tumour... and we're looking to get a couple more rats in a while. No rush of course.

Date: 2004-04-29 10:30 pm (UTC)However, I was in petcetera, and they had a bunch of male hooded agouti rats there -- five all told. The rats had been in the petcetera stores for /a year/ because no one likes fully-grown ones that look like, well, rats in colouration. I played with them for awhile, and couldn't take just one home, so the two I liked best (calm, shoulder-loving personalities) came with me.
There are still three there, I believe, as well as some babies.
Also, Noah's Pet Ark on Macdonald and Broadway has two grown-up lady rats for adoption, quite reasonably priced and fairly friendly but they probably won't go fast because they're adults.
Finally, the SPCA has some females.
As I was looking for males, I didn't go with the SPCA, but I wish I could have...
