Well. I still am capable of being ok. There really was a lot of burn out going on this summer. I can tell because a couple days ago I stated making/doing things for fun again. I didn't do things because I thought they should be fun, I did them because I actually looked forward to and enjoyed getting things done. I fixed the sag in my bed, butchered a duck, snowblew(?) a lot, and I'm making cookies right now.

I haven't thought of work or really looked at work for almost 5 days.

My family came up in that time, and Tucker was here. Mom brought up some sort of cough/throat bug and spent most of her time in bed, which meant she didn't clean/adjust things in my house much. Everyone except me caught the bug, Tucker included.

I cooked a lot of vegan food (felafel, ethiopian and korean lentils, mushroom pizzas) but not as much as I'd expected to, since sick folks weren't hungry. I made a lot of cranberry-lemon punch and fed people lots of cold medicine. Now I am doing a lot of laundry.

When everyone left I had a moment of looking around at my house and my property and just thinking it was... beautiful. It doesn't feel as much too small as it used to. I like it here.

It helps that the wood stove is running, the heart of my home beating two or three times a day as I add wood. It helps that a fog came during the freeze and crystallized slowly onto every surface to everything is lined in white. It helps that it's barely -5C, not cold at all. It helps that I got my plant lights set up and I'm starting to think about planning next year's garden.

Shortly Josh will be here and we'll butcher some ducks and fix the frozen faucet and make sausage and maybe spend a day in bed watching movies. The lake isn't totally frozen over so I may do a polar bear swim(dip) on new years'.

And then it will be back to work, and see what the new year holds for me.
