The First Week

Well, I had my two weeks off and now I'm mostly through my first week at the new job. There's a bunch to catch up on.
I did indeed have bonfires with Tucker, and I was pleased to learn that it's a kind of thing he enjoys. Most farm work isn't really his thing. I did indeed kill things, though not so many things as I was expecting: 6 geese and 2 pigs.
The pigs weighed in at ~100lbs each, which is a lovely manageable size. Unfortunately they were really difficult to scald and scrape, whether because it's winter coming on and they had dense coats and were growing in more underlayer, whether because they were young boars who have thicker skin anyhow, whether because the breed has primitive hair patterns and so is harder to scrape anyhow, or whether our skills just weren't there I don't know. They ended up being skinned. They had the right amount of fat - I'd been worried they'd be too lean.
Oops, more later, I'm going out to the field at work :)
