This week it's supposed to snow. Sunday night it did a tiny bit, just enough to make things white and clean looking. That covered a couple centimeters of pre-existing snow, so there's still not a lot around. By the end of the week we should have some insulative cover for the ground and my mind can be set at rest a little. This morning is the first day I've come into work and seen frozen lake out the window; I'm not sure if the whole thing is frozen but it is at least starting.

Winter is beginning for real. It's late this year; it was late last year too. The polar bear swim last year it was 2 degrees and there was barely ice on the lake: enough to cut us but not difficult to cut a hole through to get into the water. This year may be the same.

The weekend was some dates - movie and dinner with Tucker before he headed down south, a meetup with a new person from okc who had just got into a monogamous relationship - and then yesterday was some excellent outdoor time at home. I finally did finish the first a-frame and built the second. The snowblower got moved from the carport to the a-frame, more wood got brought in and some got piled in the carport. I also brought a bunch into the house for the week. I need to do a bunch of splitting and get the rest somewhere before it freezes to the ground.

Then I cooked down some chickens and made thom kha gai. I had plans to make Doukhobor borscht with the rest of the stock but haven't yet done that. Dogs and kittens and rabbit got snuggled and plants got watered. I got to bed super early and I did not make granola or wash the floors like I planned though. It was good.

Now a short week at work as we head towards solstice.
