Harvest of the day:

First speckled Roman (well, I have another ripe one downstairs, but I didn't harvest it. The plant is pretty fragile, it dropped a lot of green ones, I'll bet a roommate picked that up for me and ripened it. So this is the first picked-deliberately speckled roman)

First green zebra. This is a grow-again, just because it looks so, so, so, so cool.

A bunch of what I think are persimmons (I need to go digging for the labels under the vines. Hah)

Handful of black plum

Handful or two of sungolds

Are you planning on harvesting green tomatoes anytime soon? I've noticed a real drop in the temp, and I'm very concerned about those unripe tomatoes that seem to be stubbornly staying green - there are hundreds of them!!!! When should I expect the first frost this year - what's the gossip at the community plot?

I currently have recipes for Pickled Green Tomatoes, Green Tomato Salsa, and Green Tomato Relish.
