So yesterday I did something grown-up and bought myself an eye exam, since the lovely government of Canada no longer covers this medical service for grown-ups. Juggler was getting new glasses (he looks great in them) and the optometrist was right there, and it's been coming for awhile. The dude put a belladonna derivative in my eyes to dilate my pupils so he could look in at my retina. I took pictures. Tis is intense. Don't mind the piercing, I didn't straighten it for the photo.

The optometrist dude was really awesome, we had conversations on belladonna, beauty standards, the function of large vs small pupils, etc as he worked. I'm sorta thinking about springing for a bunch of daily contacts to see if I wanna ramp up to the one-month leave-ins or not. Then again, there are some cool glasses out there.

Life is good. It's just... hm. That was such a good, big, beautiful part of my life, and the people from it have vanished as thoroughly as the days themselves. I never have become accustomed to change. I want that *plus* this, not as a replacement.

That picture was taken in Kynnin's dad's house. It hurts a touch to look at it. I was housesitting, and Kynnin and I took a bunch of pictures and had them transferred to a CD for Jan, since he wasn't around. It was a really windy fall, later that year.

But still, I'm not the one who done went and got married in the interim.

That's pretty amazing. I go in for exams every 3 years as a pilot, however they don't dialate my eyes like that.

It's to test for degeneration of the retina associated with high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.

That's actually the whole point in getting the piercing, but the glasses aren't in production yet.

What`s up with the red eyes? Is that just camera flash, or is belladonna also for people who want to look cool fast? In Japanese, Belladonna is Beradonna.

Red eyes is what happens when the light from a flash in a camera picks up the retina, I think. I get it all the time. The belladonna increased the size of the red.
