Dilation

So yesterday I did something grown-up and bought myself an eye exam, since the lovely government of Canada no longer covers this medical service for grown-ups. Juggler was getting new glasses (he looks great in them) and the optometrist was right there, and it's been coming for awhile. The dude put a belladonna derivative in my eyes to dilate my pupils so he could look in at my retina. I took pictures. Tis is intense. Don't mind the piercing, I didn't straighten it for the photo.

The optometrist dude was really awesome, we had conversations on belladonna, beauty standards, the function of large vs small pupils, etc as he worked. I'm sorta thinking about springing for a bunch of daily contacts to see if I wanna ramp up to the one-month leave-ins or not. Then again, there are some cool glasses out there.

Red eyes is what happens when the light from a flash in a camera picks up the retina, I think. I get it all the time. The belladonna increased the size of the red.
