I just read the link about pre-pregnancy, and "Handmaid's Tale Pt II" is a very fitting name. (I actually just finished reading "The Handmaid's Tale" a few days ago.)

I think smoking is terrible and I don't like drinking either, but I don't think "You are a menstruating female" should be the reason not to do do things, ever. I guess, if you went with what that article is saying, it would be OK for a 10 year old girl who hasn't started menstruating to smoke, but terrible for a 25 year old to have a glass of wine.

What bothers me is this interpretation of the rules

Doctor Are you taking pre-con care?
Pateint: No.
Doctor: What birth control are you on?
Patient: None.
Doctor: You must explain yourself
Patient: I'm seeing another woman.

(Doctor makes appropriate notes, which are confidential... unless requisitioned for a court case, or skimmed by intelligence. The scary thing about hegemonic intelligence agencies is that they often function by quiet, deniable blackmail.)
