I wanted to title this post 'lifesaver'. There's a song that's been going through my head: your drug is a heartbreaker/my love is a lifetaker. Today at work was busy-- Seven hours without a break, much of that with a line and everyone there working as full-out as we possibly could. At one point one of the chefs went home, but before he went he gave us a roll of lifesavers each. That thought of his was the fumes I was running on for the next three hours.

So, current work: absolutely draining. You who know me: I'm going to bed with one meal under my belt (lunch) and two doughnuts as dinner cause I'm too tired to even think of moving to get anything else.

Tomorrow: going to do a landscaping job, which kind of scares me. Gotta run around finding tools, I'm working independently for the next two days on a big property, for Rising Sun. Hope it all comes back to me after three months away. Hope it's sunny. Shifting gears, alright.

Today, yesterday, the day previous: some rough stuff on the relationship front. It's harder on me than it has been. I care about this one more.

No time to look outside today. Is that a day wasted?

At least I stopped bleeding yesterday.

Kitten, it turns out I'm free Tuesday night as well as Wednesday. Is sooner better?

How about bleeding *and* being sick?

Sorry you're having a rough patch, but glad you're shifting modes. I'd be jealous if I thought I could realistically do the physical outdoor labour you're doing, survive, and still pay my bills. I was supposed to be in Ontario right now, but managed to contract some awful head cold/ear infection which put me out for the week (off last Monday, struggled the rest of the week, and I'm off work today again hoping to kick it out of my system). Because my dad's immune system is so compromised, my mom re-scheduled my flight for this Friday . That means I'll miss Seedy Saturday, but I know you'll understand and we can catch up later. He's not doing very well, has upped his pain meds, and has contracted a lung infection.

I've requested my first dump of compost for the weekend of the 15th, so I hope you might be available for work then(?) *crossed fingers* I should have the main beds built and located by then....

Doorbell just rang - my delivery from West Coast Seeds! It's Christmas :)
OP Swiss Chard
OP Broccoli Sorrento
Red Ace Beet (hybrid - but good to keep overwintered in the ground)
OP January King Cabbage
OP Collards 'Champion"
'Tasty Green' Cucumber
OP Veg Gin (Gai Lan)
'Copra' Onion (hybrid for storage)
OP Harris Model Parsnip
Tyee Spinach
OP Bennings Green Tint Summer Squash
OP Gem Summer Squash
OP Fortex Pole Filet Bean
OP Sayamusume Edemame Soy Bean

My Superschmeltz Kohlrabi, Pixie cabbage and Campestra carrots didn't come, so must be out of stock. I believe you mentioned seeds for the Superschmeltz??? I have some purple kohlrabi seeds, but wanted to try this one as it's supposed to overwinter.

Sorry I won't be seing you this weekend, but thinking of ya!

I was lucky in that I had a couple of months in kelowna with room and board, so I could start low-key. Otherwise I never would have made the switch.

Of course I understand-- I just wish you were missing it for better reasons. :( Want me to pick anything up for you?

Oooo! Christmas in spring! You're welcome to some of my superschmeltz in trade for some purple kohlrabi, and maybe we could trade some spinach to as to both have two kinds? What kind of swiss chard do you have?

I'll see what I can do about the fifteenth. One day at least shouldn't be a problem on that weekend.

The only thing I've had a problem finding is poached egg flower (Limnanthes douglasii/Meadowfoam...), which is supposed to attract hoverflies and be otherwise beneficial, self-seeding, soil-building etc. If you happen to see some seeds, I'd appreciate you grabbing some for me :) My chard is generic rainbow stuff, which I plan to use in among my perennials, and I thought you also listed Tyee spinach? Either way, perhaps it would be easiest for me to have my seed 'library' open for your inspection when I see you next? We can make little envelopes out of paper for you. Added bonus of commiting to the weekend of soil toil? There should still be plenty of time to start tomatoes and peppers then.

Yay spring!
